Music business finds a model for this generation

December 2nd, 2008

I noticed on the new Mudvayne album that they have figured out a model to make music pay.

To join the fanclub, enter a code from the album.

To get the code, buy the album.

If the audience wants to see them live – buy the album. It’s about time someone got a clue.

Funny thing last night – hanging out with a friends Rush tribute band. They were trying to figure out where to start a section of the song to work on it – after they finally got head nods all around and got started, I had to laugh. It’s not like you can say “take it from the bridge” in a Rush song.

Well – I thought it was funny.
